ABWU and Christo’s Supermarket partner to bring benefits to workers.

Published On: Sep 04, 2024

Members of the Antigua and Barbuda Workers’ Union (ABWU) can now benefit from exclusive discounts on purchases at Christo’s Supermarket.

Christo’s is the latest entity to partner with the ABWU in support of the union’s commitment to enhance the quality of life for its members and their families. The agreement makes provision for a 5% discount on items that are not already on sale or otherwise discounted.

ABWU President, Kem Riley, said the initiative was timely given the sharp increases in the cost of living.  He praised the Company for coming on board with the union. “Christo’s Supermarket is a long-standing establishment within the local community. They have seen and understand the struggle of working people,” Riley noted “This initiative represents a valuable benefit for our members, allowing them to save money on everyday essentials,” he added.

General Manager of Christo’s Supermarket, Khin Joseph, said the Company was pleased to offer the discount to the Union’s members. “Partnering with the ABWU aligns with our mission to give back to the communities we serve. We’re excited to offer this discount and contribute to the well-being of their members. We believe this is a win-win for everyone involved.” Joseph said.

Christo’s presently operates two supermarkets located on Old Parham Road and High Street, respectively. The discounts are available to all active members of the ABWU who present their membership card at checkout.

The Antigua and Barbuda Workers’ Union is the largest private-sector Union on the island, representing workers across multiple sectors. To date, several corporate entities have partnered with the Union to offer a range of discounts on products and services.
