The Antigua and Barbuda Workers’ Union (ABWU) is pleased to launch its virtual training series: Pro Tips for Speaking with Ease. This is the first series in the ABWU’s virtual training program which has been developed to enhance members’ access to training.
Pro Tips for Speaking with Ease helps individuals to build confidence and improve their ability to communicate with an audience effectively. The training covers various speaking situations, with an emphasis on impromptu speaking. After completing the training, individuals will be equipped with the necessary skills to make positive impressions during job interviews, workplace presentations and other engagements that require public speaking skills.
ABWU Training Officer, Hazel Luke, said: “We are advancing with the movement of digital technology to transmit some of our soft skills training, to include Work ethics, Effective communication, Oral and Written Communication, and Emotional Intelligence. These soft skills will augment workers’ talents in whichever field or career they are presently in, or will move to in the future.”
Pro Tips for Speaking with Ease is facilitated by Andre Sharpe, an ABWU Executive Member, and trained Toastmaster fellow. The training series is available now on the ABWU’s YouTube channel (@abwu268). The next topic in the virtual training program will be Negotiating Effectively.
