Workers in the Retail and Commercial Section of the ABWU are taking proactive steps to protect their rights and enhance the benefits that impact their overall well-being.
Wednesday’s section meeting was an important first step toward strengthening solidarity and cooperation within the group. Section Chair, Kimoy Samuel, hailed the meeting as a success but urged members to become more involved by attending scheduled meetings regularly.
Samuel acknowledged that some workers remain fearful of employer retaliation for participating in union activities. However, she emphasized that this fear thrives only in environments where workers are unaware of their rights.
She reminds workers that attending section meetings provides an excellent opportunity for workers to educate themselves and build confidence.
Let’s continue building a stronger, more united voice for workers in the retail and commerce sector.
