The newly elected executive of the Antigua and Barbuda Workers' Union (ABWU) Youth Arm is set to undertake a bold and transformative agenda designed to address the most pressing issues facing young workers across the country.
Over the next two years, the Youth Arm, under the leadership of President Blair Rose, will concentrate its efforts on three priority areas:
- Educating Young Workers About Their Rights
- Promoting Mental Wellness in the Workplace:
- Advocating for Job Sustainability and Improvements:
"We are incredibly excited about the future of the Youth Arm and the role we will play in advancing young workers across Antigua and Barbuda," said President Rose. "Our agenda is rooted in the real-world experiences of young people, and we are committed to ensuring that their voices are heard and that their needs are addressed.
In addition to these core areas, the Youth Arm will also champion the rights of working mothers. The team will be pushing for better accommodations for mothers in the workplace, including adequate breaks for lactating mothers to express milk between feedings, as well as the provision of basic amenities to support this essential need.
“We understand that young workers, especially young mothers, face unique challenges, and we are committed to ensuring that the workplace adapts to their needs,” Rose added. “It is our responsibility to ensure that the next generation of workers enjoy equitable and supportive working environments.”
The ABWU Youth Arm invites young workers from across the nation to join the movement, participate in upcoming initiatives, and collaborate in building a brighter future for the workforce of Antigua and Barbuda.
