The 2026 ABWU Invitational and OECS Cycling Championships delivered a memorable day of racing as cyclists from across the Caribbean converged on Antigua & Barbuda to compete for regional honours.
Athletes representing Antigua & Barbuda, Grenada, Dominica, Anguilla, the British Virgin Islands, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, and St. Lucia tackled the challenging 19.046-kilometre circuit in a series of races that showcased the growing strength of cycling throughout the region.
The feature event of the day, the OECS Elite Men's Championship, produced an outstanding performance from Grenada's Red Walters, who stamped his authority on the race and rode away with the championship title.
Walters completed the five-lap contest in 2:21:40.790, recording the fastest lap of the day at 44.29 km/h, and finishing more than eight minutes ahead of the nearest challenger.
Antigua & Barbuda's Jyme Bridges delivered a strong ride to secure second place, while compatriot Tahje Browne rounded out the podium after an impressive performance against a highly competitive regional field. Dominica's Kohath Baron finished a close fourth, less than a second behind Browne.

Marsh Takes Invitational Elite Honours
The Invitational Elite Men's race was won by Robert Marsh of Antigua & Barbuda's East Side Riders team, who rode consistently throughout the five-lap contest to secure victory.
He was followed by fellow Antiguan Abbiel Fleming, while Jaleel Cannonier completed an all-Antigua & Barbuda podium.

Junior Riders Showcase the Future of Caribbean Cycling
The OECS Junior Men's Championship produced another exciting contest and demonstrated the bright future of cycling in the region.
Tristun Viechweg of Grenada emerged victorious after a disciplined and well-managed race, finishing ahead of Anguilla's Kamari Ruan and Ephraim Hughes-Hodge.

The Masters divisions once again delivered some of the day's most competitive racing, with experienced riders proving that endurance, tactics and determination remain key ingredients for success.
In the OECS Masters A Championship, Samuel Talbot of the British Virgin Islands claimed victory ahead of Desron Bynoe of St. Vincent & the Grenadines, while Antigua & Barbuda's Jason Adams secured an excellent third-place finish.

The OECS Masters B Championship saw Anguilla's Craig Emmanuel take top honours ahead of compatriot Patrick Niles, while Antigua & Barbuda's Paul Smith rounded out the podium.

The OECS Juvenile Championship featured two promising young riders who demonstrated determination and potential for the future.
Grenada's William Meyerer claimed victory, while Antigua & Barbuda's Elite Thomas finished second after completing all three laps of the circuit.

The Cadets 11-14 division was won by Sage Williams of St. Vincent & the Grenadines, who completed the two-lap event in impressive fashion.

Beyond the podiums the 2026 ABWU Invitational and OECS Cycling Championships showcased the very best of Caribbean cycling.
From Grenada's commanding victory in the Elite Championship, to strong performances from riders representing Antigua & Barbuda, Anguilla, Dominica, the British Virgin Islands, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, and St. Lucia, the event highlighted both the competitive spirit and camaraderie that continue to drive the sport forward across the region.
