General Secretary of the Antigua and Barbuda Workers’ Union, David Massiah, and Deputy General Secretary, Sen. Chester Hughes, had the pleasure of visiting the Caribbean Travel Marketplace 2026 on Thursday.
The event, widely regarded as the region’s premier tourism business gathering, brought together more than 500 tourism stakeholders, buyers, media representatives, and industry partners from around the world.
Massiah and Hughes expressed satisfaction with the opportunities presented through the Marketplace, particularly the potential for further growth and expansion within the tourism sector. They noted that strengthened partnerships could contribute significantly to enhancing the local industry and creating new opportunities for workers.

The ABWU, which represents the majority of employees within Antigua and Barbuda’s hotel sector, welcomes all efforts aimed at improving the country’s tourism product while uplifting the lives and working conditions of employees.
The Union’s management also commended the organisers and stakeholders involved in hosting the event, noting that tourism remains a vital pillar of the national economy and a key source of employment for hundreds of workers across Antigua and Barbuda.
